Getting a job.

So, I've applied to 11 jobs in my post academic job search. Modest, yes, but I'm being particular in my search. I haven't done nearly enough by Melissa's standards.

I submitted two more resumes to Western Oregon University (WOU), in Monmouth, OR, on Friday, and I should have one for ATS, in Corvallis, OR, tomorrow morning. The ATS job is preferred, since Melissa is going to school in Corvallis, but, "shh!" don't tell WOU. ;)

Anyways, like I said from the beginning, I'm not worried about whether or not I can get a job. It's only a matter of when. In the mean time though, I missed a GRE test. It is easier to get paid for teaching math while in grad school (at OSU) if you take the GRE, says Alix I. Gitelman, associate professor of Statistics.

Wish me luck getting a job. Au revoir.

Oh, blogs

Blogs, facebook, twitter, etc. /sigh. Honestly, I like writing, and I don't want to be particularly shy, but I feel so nervous when I advertise my blogs.

I signed up for tumblr, and twitter on the same day, and didn't realize all of my twitters were going to facebook. That was unsettling. I think that facebook and twitter have different standards in terms of what is appropriate to twitter about. Facebook status updates are usually more . . . well less spastic. I think its fine to be a total spaz on twitter, but I think facebook expects more dignity. Anyways, I signed up to FeedBurner too, and thought I could get all my blogs on one feed, or something like that, so I used the name "MichaelRivers" for my feed, then I thought, well, since I can only have one feed with that name, why not make a blog with that name. Then, since michaelrivers.blogspot.com was already taken (since blogger has been popular for a long time now this is no surprise), I just picked michaelthomasrivers.blogspot.com . . . It isn't as elegant, but, it'll do.

Anyways, I figured, if I'm going to have a blog, and set up a feed. I may as well write something in it, right?
